Review "[Antje] creates an entire, detailed world in verse, and takes you there with beautiful and understated melody." --NEIL DORFSMAN - producer Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Dire Straits"Antje's songs have a grace and sweep rarely witnessed in the modern-day canon..." --PETER LUBIN - A&R representative signed Peter Gabriel, Michelle Shocked About the Artist Originally from Heidelberg, Germany, emerging talent Antje Duvekot has been capturing audiences across the East coast not only with her charismatic stage performance, but with the poetry of her uncommonly intelligent songs and a voice that could melt the toughest of hearts. There is something intrinsically vulnerable and simultaneously uplifting in Antje's writing. And this dichotomy lends her stories a real sense of the beauty and struggle, the trials and perseverance that characterize human existence. A seamstress of words, Antje spins webs of lyrical strands that are, at once, intricately detailed and at the same time, leave space for listeners to link their own experience into the web. When Antje first immigrated to the United States as a young teen in the early nineties, she observed people and events through the eyes of a different culture. Though long since adapted to the new culture, she has kept this outsiders perspective. And it is part of the reason she! tells life so well as it is. In 2002, Antje toured with the Irish supergroup SOLAS who also released two of Duvekot's songs, "the Poisonjester's Mask" and "Black Annis", on their recent album "The Edge of Silence". Furthermore, Antje has placed first and second prize in the prestigious John Lennon songwriting contest and was selected a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition and also recently in the Falcon Ridge New Artist Showcase. Her songwriting has been reviewed by Billboard Magazine, Sing Out, Philadelphia Inquirer, Creative Loafing and Irish Echoe and her songs have been featured on WXPN and other college radio stations. She has previously been described as a cross between Tracy Chapman, Ani di Franco and Shawn Colvin. To date, she has released one live recording.
