Description

Linda Gail Lewis was rocked in her cradle by the boogie piano of her older brother Jerry Lee. She did her first recording session at Sun Records, Memphis in March 1963 when she was 15, and started to tour on stage with Jerry Lee the following year. Linda continued to tour and records, one and off, with Jerry Lee though to 1987. In 1990 she decided to launch her own independent career with a solo album called International Affair and her own shows.

Superb, hard rockin’ rockabilly from this 15 track 2012 release (Europe 2012, U.S. 2015). Also check out her equally great 2015 release Hard Rockin' Woman, plus her daughter's Barbwire Heart (Annie Marie Lewis & Danny B. Harvey, 2015).Very sadly, fairly unknown outside of Europe, rockabilly/ honkey tonk/ boogie-woogie singer/ pianist Linda Gail Lewis (b. 7/18/47, Ferriday, LA) is Jerry Lee’s little sister. She’s recorded w/ the Firebirds, Jerry Lee, Stephen Ackles, Van Morrison, Robbie Fulks (w/her newest album released 8/18), & w/her daughters, MaryJean Ferguson & Annie Marie Dolan, in the Lewis 3 (2 albums in ’06). Her 1st recording was at SUN Records w/her sister in ’60 (unreleased); in March ‘63 when she was 15 & already in her 2nd marriage, she cut a non-charting B-side single, Seasons of My Heart, w/Jerry Lee, & was touring w/him by summer ’64, through ’76 (when she had drug/ alcohol problems & a nervous breakdown – left music in ’77 to settle down w/her 6th husband {of 8 total}). Re-joined Jerry Lee again in ’86, then set out on her own in ‘87. She’s recorded 22 solo albums (’69-2015), 6 more w/the aforementioned artists, & recorded 27 singles (’60-2005). She is currently touring Europe through early September ’18, then returning to the U.S. to tour w/Robbie Fulks.
